5 Alternatives To The Wedding Veil

You’ve got the dress and now it’s time to pick a veil…or maybe not! A veil is not for every bride and that’s okay. But even if you don’t want to wear a veil there are plenty of ways to add style to your look.

Bride with pearl headband

The Headband:

A headband is a classic look that any bride can pull off. It’s an accessory that looks great with hair styled down, keeping hair off the face. For an updo, a softer style will keep the look modern. Think about the height and style of your hair that day when choosing a thick or thin headband.

The Hairbow:

One may think a bow is an accessory of our younger selves, but a perfectly placed bow can be both sophisticated and chic. Different sizes and styles can elevate a look; a knotted bow with sweeping ends can be that extra bit of drama, while a smaller neat bow can sweep  the hair back for an elegant, dare I say, sexy look.

Bride with braids and hair jewelry

Hair Jewelry:

Pins, small combs, and sticks that are usually jeweled, beaded, decorated in some way.

Hair jewelry is a great option if you want to let your perfectly coiffed wedding hair shine. Add one or a combination to sweep the hair back or enhance an updo.

The Wreath:

A wreath is an enclosed loop that sits snugly around the top of the head. It can encircle a high bun, but I think this accessory particularly works with the hair down. A wreath of fresh flowers is a great choice for a boho vibe, or if you’ve always dreamed of a true fairytale look for your wedding. But it can also go more classic when made with more “traditional” bridal materials such as pearls and crystals.

Bride hair comb

The Side Comb:

A side comb is a wonderful way to accessorize hair both up or down. I particularly love this one with a side swept look. The great thing about this accessory is depending on the embellishments, there are options from traditional to modern and everything in between. You’ll be sure to find one that fits your look.

The most important thing to remember when putting together the pieces of your wedding look is to feel like your best self, and that may or may not include a veil. Think about how you want to feel on your wedding day. Do you want to feel romantic? Fun? Glamorous? There is something for everyone. What’s your favorite bridal hair accessory?
